K. V. Sankaranarayanan, affectionately called Maanuettan by the people of Chelembra and the surrounding areas, was a distinguished social worker, educationist, and public figure who dedicated his life to the upliftment of society—especially the poor and middle-class families.

Deeply rooted in the community, he maintained close personal connections with people from all walks of life. His commitment to social welfare, education, and cultural development made him a respected and trusted presence in the region. He was actively involved in political, social, and cultural service activities, serving society with sincerity and vision.

At the young age of 26, he founded the Narayanan Nair Memorial Higher Secondary School (NNMHSS), Chelembra, with the firm belief that education is the strongest instrument for social transformation.

His passion for education led to the establishment of several premier institutions, including:

  • Devaki Amma Memorial Teacher Education College
  • Devaki Amma Memorial College of Pharmacy
  • Devaki Amma Memorial Teacher Training Institute.
  • Devaki Amma Memorial Guruvayurappan College of Architecture

Through these institutions, he created lasting opportunities for thousands of students, shaping generations of professionals and responsible citizens. In addition to his contributions to education, K. V. Sankaranarayanan served in various key positions in political, cooperative, and banking sectors, where his leadership and integrity earned widespread appreciation.


Born on 1st January 1948, he led a life marked by service, humility, and vision. He departed for his heavenly abode on 12th July 2013, leaving behind an enduring legacy of educational excellence and social commitment.

Maanuettan’s life continues to inspire, and his contributions remain deeply embedded in the hearts of the people and institutions he nurtured.
